THE EXPLANATION OF THE PARABLES OF THE TARES TEXT: MATT 13:36-43

“Then he left the multitudes, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.” Matt13:36.
and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying. Jesus-went into the house, and His disciples came, this is very instructive and important, because those who attend only to the public preaching of the Gospel of God are not likely to understand fully the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. To understand clearly the true meaning of the Divine message, a man must come to God.

Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. That is, explain the meaning of the parable of the tares of the field. Christ is pleased to explain to his disciples after this manner. “He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;” Matt13:37.
The person sowing good seed was himself, The Son of man; who first planted the gospel.
“The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;” Matt13:38, Gen 3:15; Matt 24:14; Matt 28:19; Mark 16:15,20; Luke 24:47; John 8:44; Acts 13:10; Rom 10:18; Col 1:6; 1John 3:8. the field in which the seed was sown was the world; that is, the church in the world: the good seed, called, The children of the kingdom, are sincere Christians: the tares called, The children of the wicked one, are profane sinners, and unsound hypocrites: the enemy is the devil, the harvest is the end of the world, and the angels are the reapers.
“The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.” Matt13:39, Joel 3:13; Rev 14:1.

The enemy that sowed them is the devil--emphatically "His enemy" Matt 13:25. Gen 3:15; 1John 3:8. The tares are the children of the wicked one; and by their being sown "among the wheat" is meant their being deposited within the territory of the visible Church. As they resemble the children of the kingdom, the seeds of evil being scattered and lodging in the soil of those hearts upon which falls the seed of the world. The enemy, after sowing his "tares," "went his way"--his dark work soon done, but taking time to develop its true character.

the harvest is the end of the world; The period of Christ's second coming, and of the judicial separation of the righteous and the wicked. Till then, no attempt is to be made to effect such separation. But this is not to justify allowing openly scandalous persons to remain in the communion of the Church. 1Co 5:1-13.
and the reapers are the angels--But whose angels, are they? "The Son of man shall send forth His angels" Matt 13:41. 1Peter 3:22, "Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right
hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him."
“As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world”. Matt13:40

That the mixture of the tares and the wheat, of the righteous and the wicked must and shall remain in the church unto the end of the world. Yet amidst them were wicked men; and all hypocrites and unbelievers in the church are the work of Satan. Yet they must remain together till the end; when they shall be separated, and the righteous saved, and the wicked lost. The one shall shine clear as the sun; the other be cast into a furnace of fire. We have no idea of more acute suffering, than to be thrown into the fire, and to have our bodies made capable of bearing the burning heat, and living on in this burning heat for ever and for ever.

“The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;” Matt13:41, Matt 18:7; 2Peter 2:1-2
That in the end of the world the angels shall perform the work of separations, gathering the righteous from among the wicked: when everyone's harvest shall be according to his fruit; The righteous shining in the kingdom of their Father, the wicked cast into a furnace of fire.
They shall gather all things that offend-Whatever had hindered or grieved the children of God; whatever things or persons had hindered the good seed which Christ had sown from taking root or bearing fruit.
“And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. “Matt13:42, Matt 3:12; Matt8:12; Matt13:50; Rev 19:20; Rev20:10

there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. This is expressive of indignation, abhorrence, contempt Ps 9:17; Dan 12:2: "the furnace of fire" denoting the fierceness of the torment: the "wailing" signifying the anguish this causes; while the "gnashing of teeth" is a graphic way of expressing the despair in which it is irredeemable .
“Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Matt13:43, Dan 12:3; Matt 13:9; 1Cor 15:42-43,58
Righteous; the same as "the children of the kingdom," those who have believed and obeyed the gospel. Shine forth as the sun; be inexpressibly glorious in heaven. Ears to hear; let all who have ears hear and believe, and so act that they may escape the wailing of the wicked, and enjoy the glory of the righteous.

Observe the character and state of the righteous:
1.
They are the children of the kingdom, a seed of God's sowing, Matt 13:38.
2.
As to their persons, they shall be like the sun.
3.
The place of their felicity shall be the kingdom of heaven: and,
4.
The object of it, GOD In the relation of FATHER, Matt 13:43. This is a reference to Dan 12:2,3.

Comparison
The parable in Mt 13:24-30. By a comparison we may learn: (1) The kingdom is likened to a man sowing good seed in his field. (2) The Sower is the Son of man, who sows by means of his kingdom. (3) The good seed is the word of God as seen in its fruits, Christ's followers. (4) The field is the world. It is Christ's field. All power is given to him in heaven and in earth [Mt 28:18]. His kingdom is rightfully the whole earth, but much of it is held still by the enemy, who has to be conquered. He will prevail finally, and the kingdoms of the earth shall become the kingdom of the Lord and his Christ. (5) The wheat raised from the good seed is the "children of the kingdom," the disciples of Christ converted by his word. (6) The tares are not bad church members, but bad men; those who have been under the influence of the wicked one. (7) The righteous and wicked are to remain in the earth together. The righteous are not to exterminate the wicked. The evil and the good will be mixed until judgment day. (8) Then all shall be gathered at the throne of judgment. The righteous shall "inherit the kingdom." All that are wicked shall be cast out of the kingdom. An eternal separation shall take place.

CONCLUSION: Those who will shine like sun in God’s kingdom stand in contrast to those who receive His judgement. Ask the Lord now: Lord, help me to live a righteous life that will make me outstanding in your kingdom in my life in the name of Jesus.
